About Kyle

Kyle Michaelis grew up in West Point, Nebraska and has lived in Lincoln since he was 17 years old.  He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for both his Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctorate.  Since graduating from law school in 2007, he has worked as an immigration officer for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Kyle has been active in the community serving as an AmeriCorps volunteer at the former Lincoln Action Program, a tutor for the Lincoln Literacy Council, and a free tax preparer for the IRS VITA program.  He is a proud Union member and currently serves on the board of directors of the Emergency Medical Services Oversight Authority for Lincoln and Lancaster County.  Kyle has also been a leading voice for progressive values and accountability in state government through his work as founder and managing editor of the New Nebraska Network.

Kyle's campaign to be the next State Senator for Legislative District 27 is his first run for elected office.
